TEHRAN – Iranian director Vahaid Jalilvand’s drama “Wednesday, May 9” and Puria Heidari-Ureh’s short film “Social Learning Theory” won the best film awards at the Iranian 2016 Film Festival, which was held in the two Swedish cities of Uppsala and Stockholm on September 24 and 25.

Iranian actors Pejman Bazeghi, Mehdi Soltani and Pegah Ahangarani, and Iranian film producer Mohammad Shayesteh were the special guests of the festival.

In this edition of the festival, sixteen Iranian short, documentary and feature-length movies went on screen.

The festival is organized every year by Yari, an Uppsala-based charity organization that helps street children in Iran to attend school and also to raise funds for the construction of schools and libraries for children.
